Alistair has worked with More United on a number of campaigns. On the environment, he joined forces with Labour MP Ian Murray to submit the views of more than 10,000 of you to a parliamentary inquiry on Sustainable Seas, and to demand action in a cross-party letter to the Chancellor ahead of the 2018 Budget. He also co-led More United’s Legal Aid campaign alongside Andy Slaughter MP (Labour) to secure a vital debate on the importance of restoring early access to legal aid, and wrote to the Home Secretary in support of our campaign to restore the Access to Elected Office Fund for disabled candidates. More United supporters backed him during the 2017 election.
How More United supports Alistair
Alistair has been an MP for 16 years. He’s worked to boost the development of renewable energy generation in the islands and has spoken passionately about his belief in the positive impact of the union between Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Alistair is well known for his work on human rights and has been an active campaigner for the worldwide abolition of the death penalty. Alistair's efforts to campaign against the use of a British-made drug in lethal injections were directly responsible for the Government's 2012 ban on exports of this drug to the US. There have since been reports of delays to planned executions and a drop in the overall number of executions.
