Andy Slaughter is the Labour MP for Hammersmith and was backed by More United at the last election. Andy has a track record of standing up for More United’s values in Parliament, having consistently voted for equal gay rights and for measures to tackle climate change. Locally he is campaigning against the third runway at Heathrow.
How More United supports Andy
Andy is strongly opposed to a hard, destructive Brexit and was fired from Labour's front bench for rebelling against the party to vote for keeping the UK within the single market. He also supports having a second referendum on the terms of the deal.
He has worked with More United on various campaigns. He signed the backbench debate request on protecting the NHS from Brexit, as well as speaking in the debate. Andy also co-led More United’s Legal Aid campaign alongside Alistair Carmichael MP (Liberal Democrat). He proposed the backbench debate request and opened the debate. See his speech here.
