Caroline Lucas MP

MP for Brighton Pavillion

I’m pleased to endorse More United’s vision because the way we engage with politics is changing. It’s more urgent than ever that progressives work together to oppose an extreme Brexit, and to advance the values of a fairer democracy, a cleaner environment, and a more open society. Together, we can have a real impact on the future of our country.

Caroline worked closely with More United on our campaign to restore the Access to Elected Office Fund which funded the disability-related costs of political candidates. As well as writing an open letter to Penny Mordaunt (the Minister for Women and Equalities) urging her to reopen the Fund, after our campaign win she continued the pressure by questioning the minister further on the scope of the funds. She also co-led our Plastics in the Oceans campaign, writing, alongside three other MPs, an open letter to the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, calling for immediate government action to tackle the growing crisis of plastic pollution. Finally, Caroline helped secure the debate on the future of Legal Aid, as well as the first ever Parliamentary debate on the impact of Brexit on the NHS. As part of the NHS campaign, she also added her name to a cross-party letter urging the Prime Minister to issue advice to NHS Trusts up and down the country on how to prepare for a no-deal Brexit. More United supporters backed her during the 2017 election.
