How More United supports David
David Lammy is the Labour MP for Tottenham. David is a strong advocate for positive parenting and particularly the importance of fathers. He grew up on an estate in Tottenham and was awarded a choral scholarship to attend a state choral school, before going on to study law at Harvard.
A passionate advocate for equal rights and diversity, David was a crucial figure in the parliamentary push to include diversity in the current BBC charter. He recently published a study that exposed the racial bias within England's criminal justice system and has called on the Government to put measures in place to address this.
In the wake of the Grenfell fire, David became a passionate spokesperson for all those affected by the tragedy. He has been tireless in calling on the Government and on local councils across the country to deal with the problems at the root of the tragedy.
He was backed by More United in the last election and since then he has worked with More United on our campaign to protect the NHS from Brexit by signing the backbench debate request. He also signed the backbench debate request on the future of legal aid.
