Layla supported More United's campaign on the impact of Brexit on the NHS by signing two cross-party letters. The first urged the Prime Minister to respond to concerns from health professionals on access to medicines; the second was regarding NHS concerns about the lack of government advice for no-deal Brexit planning.
Layla has worked closely with homelessness charities and organisations, including a local students campaign, and recently put forward a bill to repeal the Vagrancy Act.
Before becoming an MP, Layla worked as a physics teacher. She still has a strong interest in education and has said that fighting school funding cuts is her “first priority”, hosting a parliamentary briefing on cuts where children told their stories. Layla is currently education spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats.
