Liz Kendall MP

MP for Leicester West

I’m proud to back More United’s progressive values. There is too much division in our politics and country at the moment and the beliefs that so many of us hold are under threat. I have always believed that we have more that unites us than divides us and that if we work together, we can create a fairer and more tolerant society.

Liz has pledged to co-lead More United’s campaign on health and social care, alongside Norman Lamb MP (Liberal Democrat). They want to join forces to build a consensus around a long-term solution to the chronic problem of underfunding, and put an end to the NHS as a political football. Liz also added her name to calls for a debate on the impact of Brexit on the NHS. She was backed by More United supporters during the 2017 election.

Liz is a living wage campaigner and a strong supporter of LGBTQ+ rights. Prior to becoming an MP she worked extensively in the health policy area and was director of Maternity Alliance, a charity for pregnant women. She has shown a continued interest in this area. Aside from co-leading our campaign, she joined forces with Nick Boles MP (Conservative) and former health minister Norman Lamb (Liberal Democrat) to promote the idea of a dedicated ‘health and social care tax’ through National Insurance, to replace current NHS funding.

During the 2015 Labour leadership election Liz called on her party to embrace the business community, saying at the time: "There are many good businesses that share our agenda, but they did not feel they could be part of what we were saying, because too much of the time they heard us attacking business.”
