Liz Saville-Roberts MP

MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd

Liz supported More United's campaign on legal aid by adding her name to calls for a cross-party debate. She subsequently spoke in the debate, urging the Government to restore funding in much needed areas -- particularly housing and family-- and highlighting the severe problems people in need of legal aid currently face, for example victims of domestic abuse being forced to face their abuser in court.

Prior to becoming an MP, Liz worked as a news reporter in London and North Wales, and then as a Further Education lecturer with Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, where she developed Welsh language education.

Liz has shown a long interest in legal aid. She recently introduced a bill to stop abuse victims having to face their abusers in court and previously led a debate (alongside Labour MP Helen Hayes) on the issue of court closures. She has been outspoken about legal advice deserts in Wales and need for reform.
