Sir Peter Bottomley MP

MP for Worthing West

Sir Peter joined Alistair Carmichael MP (Liberal Democrat), Ian Murray MP (Labour) and Caroline Lucas MP (Green) on More United’s campaign to reduce Plastics in the Oceans. As part of this campaign, they wrote a cross-party letter to the Chancellor, calling for immediate government action to tackle the growing crisis of plastic pollution. He also added his name to calls for a debate on Legal Aid, urging the Government to restore funding in much needed areas.

Sir Peter has been the MP for Worthing West for 21 years. He is a strong supporter of ‘WASPI women’ who campaign for pension justice. As an Officer for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hate Crime, Sir Peter also works on the need to better record and raise awareness of what constitutes a hate crime. Last year, Sir Peter co-sponsored an amendment to the Queen's Speech, ensuring that the Government funds NHS abortions for Northern Irish women in England. Of this he said: “until British women can, subject to the law, have an abortion in their part of the UK, it is our responsibility in England to meet their needs.”
