Stephen Doughty MP

MP for Cardiff South and Penarth

I spent my career before politics fighting as a campaigner and community activist for a more equal, sustainable and caring society, in this country and across the world - and I've continued to do so in Parliament since my election in 2012. I fully endorse More United’s aims and will support them in their campaign for a progressive, moderate politics in Britain. As my late friend, fellow campaigner and parliamentary colleague Jo Cox said - we have more in common than that which divides us.

Stephen supported More United’s campaign on the impact of Brexit on the NHS by adding his name to cross-party calls for a debate.

Stephen is committed to democratic reform, including lowering the voting age to 16 to engage more young people in the political process. He recently supported a Private Member's Bill to bring this into effect, although the bill was defeated by the Government.

Stephen currently sits on the Home Affairs Committee.
